About Dancers

Aishwarya Subramanian is a sophomore, majoring in Psychology, minoring in Spanish and Religious Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. She has been dancing for over 10 years and is also part of UMD's Indian Classical Dance Team, Moksha.

Amritha Jayanti is a  12th grader at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. She has been dancing Bharatanatyam for 12 years at the Jayamangala School of Dance. Recently, she began learning ballet in a local dance studio.

Anusha Nathan has been learning Bharatanatyam since she was four years old and has also been learning Kuchipudi for the past three years. Currently a senior at Centennial High School, Anusha hopes to study in the STEM fields.

Eisha Nathan is a senior at the University of Maryland studying Computer Engineering & Mathematics. She has been learning and performing Bharatanatyam with Jayamangala in and around the tri-state area for the past 16 years.

Meera Raja has been a student of Shobha Subramanian since the age of 5. She also studied Mohiniattam briefly under Mrs. Gopika Verma in Chennai. After graduating from University of South Carolina, she currently works at CompuGain.

Natasha Kumar has been learning Bharatanatyam since the young age of 5. She is currently a junior at the University of Maryland, College Park, majoring in Kinesiology and is a member of UMD's Bhangra Team, Terrapind Bhangra.

Nisha Pawar is a junior, Cell Biology and Genetics Major at the University of Maryland, College Park. She has been learning Bharatanatyam for the past 15 years and is also captain of a South-Asian fusion dance team at University of Maryland, Maryland Dhoom. 

Priyanka Jayanti is a junior pursuing a Bioengineering degree at the University of Maryland. She has been dancing since the age of four and is currently manager of Maryland Dhoom and a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional engineering sorority.

Sapna Gopal is a senior at the University of Maryland, double majoring in Physiology and Neurobiology and Psychology. She has been learning dance since the age of 8 and has also been Co-Captain of Moksha, UMD's Indian Classical Dance Team.

Sujata Dighe began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of 5, with Guru Shobha Subramanian. She has been dancing for the past twelve years and is a freshman at Montgomery College, in Rockville, MD, majoring in Pre- Clinical Nursing

Shobha Subramanian is the Dance Director of Jayamangala School of Dance. She has studied dance under senior gurus of India (Mrs. Sundari Seshadri, Dhananjayans, Prof. CV Chandrashekhar, Kalamandalam Usna Banu) and is the three-time winner of Individual Artist Award from the state of Maryland. She holds a graduate degree MFA in Theatre from Towson University and her choreography brings out "innovation within tradition".
